The primary goal of the Kunming Primate Research Center (KPRC) is to advance research into non-human primates (NHP) as biomedical research models for human diseases, providing research services to both academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies. Since its establishment in 2005, the KPRC has grown to become a highly-regarded NHP research and development center, serving as one of the major bases for biomedical research in China.
Over the next five years, the KPRC will continue to enhance its attractiveness as an internationally recognized research and development center for non-human primates by strengthening its research personnel and updating both its equipment and facilities. These resources will be focused onto targeted NHP research projects exploring the viability of embryonic stem cells for treatment of human neuronal disorders, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer.
