How to apply for a residence permit?
1. When to apply?
Student Visa/”X” Visa holders who will be studying in China for more than 6 months must apply for a “Residence Permit” within the first 30 days of arrival.
2. What documents are needed?
1) Receipt of China Visa Photograph for Foreigners in Yunnan Province
2) A two-inch photo (33mmX48mm)
3) Visa Application Form
4) JW202 Form
5) Original Passport, and photocopies of the passport page, valid visa, and the page that is stamped with the most recent entry into China
6) Registration Voucher of Residence for Visitors from Overseas from the police station
7) Admission Notice
8) An official letter from KIZ
9) Health Certificate
How to renew a residence permit?
1. When to renew?
If you need to continue your study in China after the expiration of your residence permit, you should apply to extend your residence permit at least 30 days before your current residence permit expires.
2. What documents are needed?
1) Receipt of China Visa Photograph for Foreigners in Yunnan Province
2) A two-inch photo (33mmX48mm)
3) Visa Application Form
4) JW202 Form
5) Original Passport, and photocopies of the passport page and the currently valid Residence Permit
6) Registration Voucher of Residence for Visitors from Overseas from the police station
7) Admission Notice
8) An official letter from KIZ
9) Health Certificate (may need)
How to change a residence permit?
1)If there is a change made to any important information on your residence permit, including name, purpose of residence, passport number, accompanying person(s), you need to apply for change of your residence permit. For example, if you renew your passport and get a new passport number, you need to change your residence permit.
2)You need to apply for residence permit change within 10 days after any of the change mentioned before is made.
3)The documentations for change of residence permit are almost the same with those of application for a new residence permit.
4)The delay of changing your residence permit will lead to a fine ranging from 500 RMB to 2000 RMB.
Please re-regsiter at theh local police station after you obtain/renew/change your residence permit.
