Research Fields and Progress in 2013
We are interested in discovery of new biomarkers for early detection and treatments of lung cancer. We examined mRNA expression of 20 genes within chromosome band 12q13 in nonsmall-cell lung cancer. Over-expressions of RACGAP1 and MCRS1 were newly found in lung cancer. Furthermore, abnormal expressions of RACGAP1 and MCRS1 were associated with cytokinesis defects, cell proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle arrest, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. RACGAP1 and MCRS1 may be new cancer-related genes and biomarkers in lung cancer.
