Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are a group of molecules with potent antimicrobial activity and other activity such as iron regulation, immunity regulation, protease inhibition, free radicals clearance et al. More than 1200 AMPs have been identified from nearly all groups of organisms, including bacteria, fungi, plants and animals.

Current AMPs nomenclature is diverse, so we provide a systematic nomenclature covering the information about activity, source and primary structure of AMPs as the supplement to the current nomenclature.

In this nomenclature, AMPs are designated by unified style as "Activity.Structure.Source-Serial number-Cytotoxicity".

To exhibit this systematic nomenclature, we eatablish this website.

If you want to seek detailed AMPs information, visit APD2(http://aps.unmc.edu/AP/main.php).
