Invited by the State Key Laboratory of Genetic Resources and Evolution, Kunming Institute of Zoology, CAS, Hans-Jürgen Bandelt, Professor of University of Hamburg, has finished his one month academic exchange. Prof. Bandelt’s research is mainly focusing on human mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). During his visit to KIZ from Januany 9th to February 8th, 2013, he had delivered four lectures which enabled us to have a systematic and in-depth understanding of the progresses and problems in the field of human mtDNA.
Following were the titles of Prof. Bandelt’s lectures:
Lecture 1: Human mitochondrial DNA research in medicine and forensics: quality matters
Lecture 2: The human mitochondrial DNA phylogeny, haplogroups, and mitochondrial DNA databases
Lecture 3: Mitochondrial DNA variation in human cancer
Lecture 4: Quasi-median networks of mitochondrial DNA datasets
