According to the development of International Barcode of Life Project (iBOL), this department is established in January of 2011. It is the first integrated platform for the research and utilization of DNA barcode in China. The South Center of DAN Barcoding is an important part of “International Barcode of Life - China project”. It will play an important role on several aspects, including the wildlife specimen collection, preservation and management in a large-scale, DNA extraction, design and screening for the barcoding gene marker, cloning, high-throughput sequencing, development and maintenance of database, information platform and laboratory information system LIMS, and the application and exploration based on this technology. These works could provide scientific data and specimens for our laboratory, and services for biodiversity research. Now there are four full-staff.
