Co-organized by the CAS Graduate University (GUCAS) and the CAS Kunming Branch, the 2007 Science100, a CAS annual forum for outstanding young scientist, was opened on 28 November at the CAS Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) in southwest China's Yunnan Province, bringing together more than 90 experts and scholars from various CAS institutions across the country.
The opening speeches were separately delivered by Vice Director-General of the CAS Bureau of Personnel and Education LI Hefeng, CPC Secretary of GUCAS DENG Yong and XTBG Director CHEN Jin.
During the two-day meeting, a series of workshops and lectures were organized. Over 60 scholars gave talks on cutting-edge issues in such fields as life sciences, energy resources, environment, geoscience, and materials science. The participants also had interdisciplinary academic exchanges.
Officially launched in April 2004, the Forum is to offer a platform for the CAS scholars who have been recruited through the prestigious Bairen (or 100 talent) Program, and pool their collective wisdom.
