From Jun 7th-11th, 2011, Dr. Wen-Hsiung Li, the recipient of “Einstein Professorship Program, CAS”, who was recommended by KIZ, visited KIZ.
Dr. Wen-Hsiung Li, the editor-in-chief of the classic book 《Molecular Evolution》, is a distinguished biologist of molecular development. Dr.Li is well-known for his leading research in evolutionary biology, human genetics and genomics. He won the highest honor in genetics and evolution, the Balzan Prize and is a laureate of Mendal Medal in 2009 awarded by Genetic Societies of U.K. Dr. Li currently is the James D. Watson professor of Department of Ecology & Evolution, University of Chicago and the investigator/director of Biodiversity Research Center, Taiwan. Till 2011, he has published over 300 academic articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Science, Nature, Nature Genetics, Am J Hum Genet, PNAS, etc.
During his visiting,Dr.Li gave a lecture named “Genetic and Epigenetic Factors in Evolution of Gene Regulation”, introduced the latest developments in epigenetics and received the certificate of “Einstein Professorship Program, CAS”, which was delivered by Dr. Yaping Zhang, representing CAS.
After finished activities in KIZ, Dr. Li also visited Chengdu institute of Biology,CAS,Sichuan University,and Kunming Institute of Botany,CAS.
