2013-08-19

Consortium for globalization of Chinese medicine chairman and Professor Zheng Yongqi, of Yale University, met with Kunming Institute of Zoology (KIZ) Deputy Director Yao Yonggang and related scientific research personnel. Professor Zheng was accompanied by a Taiwan delegation composed of personnel from the scientific institutes and universities in Taiwan and several pharmaceutical companies.

At the forum, Yao Yonggang apprised the delegation of the latest in KIZ research. Professor Zheng Yongqi praised KIZ’s the non-human primate animal models. These models are not available in Taiwan, and the delegation was hopeful of future research collaboration in clinical medicine and drug development, particularly in neurobiology, senile disease mechanisms, virus animal models, and pharmaceutical plant gene sequencing. The delegation also visited the Kunming Natural History Museum of Zoology.

The Taiwan exchange activity is an initiative by the Science and Technology Department of Yunnan Province to promote cooperation with Taiwan and the development of the biotechnology industry in Yunnan, as well as modernize the traditional Chinese medicine and natural medicine industry in Yunnan.
