Though Yunnan is home to the richest biodiversity in the northern hemisphere, children in Kunming city rarely get the chance to learn about the province’s unique environment. As part of a provincial initiative to promote awareness of the importance of environmental conservation, children from Kunming’s Yuntai Shangpin kindergarten poured into Kunming’s Museum of Natural History to learn more about the importance of environmental conservation in Yunnan. Organized by the Forestry Bureau and the Museum leadership, the event and others like it are designed to promote early education of environmental protection initiatives by giving young children first-hand experience.
