On January 20, 2015, the Kunming Museum of Natural History and Multi-prisms ltd. jointly launched the museum’s new app, "See the Exhibits," available for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Windows 8. The App allows enthusiastic anywhere in the world to virtually see all current exhibitions on display in Kunming.

Though many institutions have embraced the idea of digital education, the Museum’s new app is currently the largest interactive museum platform available in mainland China, and is the first museum app to fully integrate exhibition information, feedback, and social interaction.

The new app is a sign of the museum’s eagerness embrace new technology. In the future, the Kunming Museum of Natural History hopes to move even further from traditional avenues of publicity and embrace new media, and find new venues to reach children and teenagers as part of a nation-wide effort undertaken by the Chinese government to stress the importance of environmental conservation awareness.
