Researchers from Insect Specimen Library of the Kunming Natural History Museum of Zoology (KNHMZ) presents and updates 3412 type specimens belonging to 266 species/subspecies of 37 families in 9 orders (Odonata, Isoptera, Mantodea, Orthoptera, Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera and Lepidoptera). 

Insect Specimen Library of KNHMZ was established in the 1970s and belongs to the Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (KIZ, CAS). At present, it includes more than 400,000 insect specimens. Dr. Li-Kun Zhang with her research group recently published an article to present a catalog of insect type specimens preserved at KIZ, CAS.

The database is shared with public at the website of KNHMZ.
