The International Symposium on Drug Addiction: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Approachesinwas held at Expo garden hotel in Kunming from Oct.10th-13th, 2008.This symposium was organized by Key Laboratory of Animal Models and Human Disease Mechanisms andLaboratory of Primate Neuroscience Research of Kunming Institute of Zoology, CAS. More than 60 scientists and 30 students from China, USA, Canada, UK, France and Italy attended the meeting.

 The main goal of this symposium is to facilitate interactions for global scientists in the field of drug addiction research and treatment. Representatives from several first-grade universities and institutions introduced the latest progress in the field of drug addiction research and treatment in behavior, neuroscience network, cellular and molecular level. The excellent work and wonderful statement completed by all reporters aroused great interests from their peers. Critical argument and discussion were often heard in the meeting room.
　The topics involved frontiers of several disciplines. Intensive discussion and high research methodology widened participants’ view and academic minds.　 In addition, the meeting encouraged exchanges for scientists of KIZ and international drug addiction research and brought great opporunity for our future research.
