The mechanisms and therapeutics underlying stress induced disorders
Print
2009-09-09

Stress causes or aggravates 90% diseasesparticularly mental disorder and recognition disorder. Disasters such as wars and earthquakes can induce post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our investigation demonstrates that the central serotonin (5-HT) deficit increases the susceptibility of PTSD. The activation of the TRPV1 receptor in hippocampus plays an anti-stress role in both synaptic plasticity and recognition. We are developing a new antidepressant called “Orcinoside”, which acts through regulating the hippocampal synaptic plasticity. Our investigation has been published in PNAS, Neuron, Biological Psychiatry and J. Neuroscience. We have applied for domestic and international patents.
