Dr. R. C. Sobti, Former Vice Chancellor Panjab University, and currently Vice Chancellor, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (Central University) is an active researcher and dynamic administrator. He has made remarkable contributions in identifying susceptible novel genotypes and determined the crucial role of OSCS-1 and STAT genes in the genesis of cervical and prostrate cancers. He has also made a significant impact in the field of stem cell research. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy, National Academies of Medical Sciences and Agricultural Sciences; Canadian Academy of Cardiovascular Diseases and others. His awards include – PADMASHRI by GOI, 2009; INSA young scientist medal etc.
