Title: Global Partnerships in Field Training & Outreach Education:  Promoting Human-Primate Coexistence

Introduction of the speaker:

Randall Kyes is a Professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Psychology. He is also adjunct professor in the departments of Global Health, and Anthropology. He is the Director of the University’s Center for Global Field Study, and Head of the Division of Global Programs at the Washington National Primate Research Center. 

  For the past 30 years, Prof. Kyes has maintained an active program of research, training, and outreach education involving extensive international collaboration in a number of countries including Bangladesh, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nepal, Thailand, and Laos.  

  His collaborative work focuses broadly on conservation biology & global health- at the human-environment interface, with specific attention to primate population assessment.  

  The primary goal is to promote healthy human-wildlife coexistence. 

  Prof. Kyes is a Past-President of the American Society of Primatologists   and has been a Fulbright Scholar to Nepal and Indonesia.  He is also the inaugural recipient of the “Kyes Award for Excellence in Educational Outreach.” This award was established by the American Society of Primatologists to honor Prof. Kyes’ years of service in providing training and outreach education around the world.
