Taxonomy and ontogeny of freshwater fishes;
·Molecular systematics, phylogeny, biogeography of the freshwater fishes in East Asia, especially Cypriniformes and Siluriformes; 
·Molecular ecology and speciation of fishes;
·Evolution of important gene in osteichthysan fishes;
·Detection of SINE and its phylogenetic application in the family Cyprinidae;
·DNA barcoding of freshwater fishes;
·Phylogenomics and bioinformatics of fish genome.
